Thrift Store Review: Shelter Thrift

This week's thrift store up for review is Shelter Thrift, a small second hand store with a great selection, fairly cheap prices and friendly employees.  It's next to the post office off Pacific Avenue, just a block or two away from the store reviewed last week.  (Delta Humane Society)

In any case, what this store lacks in size it makes up for in presentation and charm.  Click below to find out more!

The Good:

  • Shelter Thrift has an excellent selection of dishes, tableware and mugs.  Everything is displayed neatly. My favorite method is the shelves with all the matching sets.

  • They also have a wide selection of books, ranging from 1-5 dollars.  Not the cheapest books you can get, but still a pretty good deal.
  • This was the first thrift store where I've seen wedding dresses.

The Odd:

  • There is a dressing room, but I was a little afraid to go in it because it's a door in the very corner of the shop.

it felt a little too much like walking into a broom closet.  Plus I fear spiders.  Didn't want to take the risk.

The Bad:

  • Clothes weren't really all that cheap.  I snagged a nice collared shirt for $2.75 but there's not a lot of selection.

  • Parking is a bit hectic in this area, since it's sandwiched between a post office and a Dollar Tree Store.  Be on the lookout for oblivious pedestrians.
FAQ:

Do they accept donations? Yes!

Where do the donations go to?  The proceeds for Shelter Thrift are donated to the Stockton Homeless Shelter, a great cause!

What are the places of interest in the area?  As with the Delta Humane Society post, there are some great restaurants in the same shopping center as Shelter Thrift.  On the other side of the post office is Fu Yuan, and across the way is Sho Gun and UJs.  You can also follow this parking lot to the shopping center on the other side, which has Michaels, TJ Maxx and Toys R Us.

That's it for this week!  Stay tuned for more thrift store reviews, or just watch as my inability to resist buying something because its cheap makes me go broke very, very slowly.

This week I spent $4.28 on a shirt and a copy of the Maltese Falcon.  Score!
