Thrift Store Review: Delta Humane Society Thrift and Gift Boutique

This week's post is dedicated to the Delta Humane Society Thrift and Gift Boutique, a small thrift store that opened recently on Pacific Avenue.  Proceeds go to the Delta Humane Society and the SPCA to fund their no-kill animal shelters for abandoned and lost pets.  It's for a great cause and this little thrift store is not one to be missed.

The Good:

The shop is very organized and neat, there are a couple rooms that are each decorated in a unique style

Here's an example of what I mean: a vanity table in their vintage section for women's clothes called The Budoir.

This is my personal favorite: the book section.  All the way in the back of the store they have a room entirely dedicated to books and movies.

As you can see the shop is divided based on clothing type and in the far back you can see the entrance to the book section.

What to look for:  Although I couldn't get a picture, this place has a lot of nice glassware for cheap.

The Bad:

No dressing rooms

Location is difficult to find: it's on a parallel side street to Pacific Avenue, obscured by trees.

Limited selection: because it's not a very big place, you may have a hard time finding what you want

Prices:  it's not that cheap, at least for a thrift stores.  The cheapest clothing I found was 5 dollars.

FAQ:

When do they accept donations: During their hours of operation (10am-5pm)

Places of interest in the area:  Right down the street is the shopping center with Save-Mart, which has three of my favorite restaurants in Stockton: Shogun for Japanese food, UJ's if you like a warm, diner atmosphere and great sandwiches and Fu Yuan for Chinese food.  It also has a thrift store, which I'll report on soon!

That's it for this week!  I hope this post will inspire you to find more thrift stores in your area that are dedicated to good causes.
And even though I didn't buy anything (surprisingly) this did catch my eye:

Isn't this a pretty dress?  It was really long and much too big, but I couldn't help but appreciate the lace collar and the deep green color.

Until next week!  I'll try and get onto a normal posting schedule, maybe every Thursday and Saturday.
